I want to send warm thoughts to Pam Gibson, the maid of honor and niece of the bride at a friend’s wedding I’m attending this weekend. Pam’s Army unit has just been called up and will be deployed to Iraq this week, two days before the ceremony. I am not shocked by the military’s horrendously bad timing, as that seems to be the way it goes with them. But it does make me sad to think she won’t be there, and I wish her all the best for a safe journey.
