Rocks and Trees, Trees and Rocks

Photos taken yesterday at Ravenswood Park, Mass., outside Gloucester. So amazing to get out of the city!

Huge glacial erratics everywhere made the trail more fun and interesting than others in New England that I've been on.

Marked on map as "Scenic Vista" of Gloucester Harbor. (Think "A Perfect Storm.")

Violets.

An old quarry.

Path.

Rock.
We find a giant rock and climb it.

The best part! For 33 years in the late 19th century a man lived alone out here in a cabin. He called himself "The Hermit." (Click here to read more, p. 18-19.) So awesome!

Not pictured is actually my very favorite aspect of this park, which was the old rock walls and cellar holes you could see about, which date to colonial times. Yay for ruins!!! I get crazy fascinated about these sorts of things.

I'm glad you went to find some trees. What a beautiful area it is. I bet it lifted your spirits just to be there.
