Cinco eats

What better way to celebrate what is not Mexico's Independence Day than by enjoying some delicious Mexican food? Unfortunately, we live in New York and the Mexican food here is often gross and flavorless.

Unless! You go to Pinche Taqueria, which we discovered the other day crouching in a tiny, triangle-shaped space on Lafayette just above Houston. The kitchen came straight from TJ (Tijuana, for those who weren't undergrads in SoCal), which explains why the food reminded me so much of terrific, authentic, Baja-style Mexican. Highly recommended! And cheap! (And apparently there's an older location on Mott Street.)

But I'm in Midtown, and vegan, so today we're celebrating by frequenting our local Taco Bell. Which actually is loaded with vegan options, will cook to order, AND has this super-neato nutrition calculator that lets you add and subtract ingredients. Fun for even non-vegans!

Yay Mexican food!

Taco Bell? wtf?

Revision!

Yay fresh and authentic Mexican food brought to you from the company that owns KFC, Pizza Hut, and other nutricious and Earth conscious staples of the American (and Mexican, and world-wide) diet!

Just giving you crap because T-Bell seems to go against everything in your past 20 or so posts.

Or do they? Maybe I'm wrong.

Klaus. Read the post. All Mexican food is crappy in New York. It's not like we have awesome taco trucks down the street.

And even vegans sometimes need to run for the border. :) And they help you do it while being cognizant of just what it is you're consuming, which is better than some other chains.
