Serious control freaks

Fake fireworks, replacing a not-quite-adorable-enough girl with a cuter one, gymnasts the government swears are 16 even though they look about 9…China is creeping me out more and more every day.

This calls for an old joke about censorship, often heard in Armenia when Armenia was under Soviet rule.

Q: Is it true that Ivan Ivanovich Ivanov from Moscow won a car in a lottery?

A: In principle, yes. It wasn't Ivan Ivanovich Ivanov, but rather Aleksander Aleksandrovich Aleksandrov. And he is not from Moscow, but from Odessa. And it was not a car, but a bicycle. And he didn't win it, but it was stolen from him.

It doesn't matter about the age of the athletes, that Ivy League gymnast just handed the gold to China. Hey China, want a gold? Here ya go!

Why you gotta hate on Zhang Yimou? That guy makes some good movies...how you gonna tell him not to use "movie magic?" Have you not seen "Hero?"

Dude, I'm just saying I am very frightened of a country that so facilely manipulates reality.

And "House of Flying Daggers" was lame.
