Fun activities when your network server is down:

· Take a scenic field trip to the supply room in the basement—ooh, I didn’t know they made Post-Its in this shape!

· Clean gum wrappers out of your desk drawers.

· Clean gum wrappers out of your purse.

· Make copies of forms on which you are low, which means you get to look at ‘take’ shelves in the copy room. Anyone need any Clive Cussler? Nora? Anyone?

· Discover you have nine kinds of tea in your desk while you always buy Diet Cokes from the machine. Antioxidants shmantioxidants.

· Sharpen pencils, to the annoyance of your cubemate.

· Throw out irate letters from readers you know you’ll never respond to.

· Water your poor little natural-light-deprived plants.

· Test old pens and wonder why only 3% of the ballpoint pens in the world are functioning.

· Continue to ignore your slush pile.

· Rearrange postcards pinned up from the last vacation you took way too long ago.

· Delete incriminating photos you’ve uploaded to your hard drive.

· Make field trip to the ‘take’ shelves on the other side of the floor. Oh, some Classics. Score!

· Repose little plastic happy-face guy your brother gave you.

· Clean sticky spots on desk resulting from PB&J sandwiches you eat there. Every day. Of your life.

· Continue to ignore huge pile of filing to be done.

· Actually do some editing.

· Nap in chair until you have access to e-mail and the Internets again.

"The internets." That never ceases to amuse me. Especially now that I know what it's referencing.

I am glad you still have the smiley guy I gave you. What do readers get irate about?
