The parent company is also considering closing The Chron and the Seattle P-I!

I {heart} print newspapers, and though I know these are tough economic times, I blame greedy publishing conglomerates like Scripps for snapping up newspapers in better days, then not running them efficiently, and abandoning them at the first sign of trouble. I believe every major market should have two viable, competing newspapers. It's a huge blow to democracy when there's only one journalistic voice to be heard.

Very sad.
